Top Ten Large Wedding Venues in Grand Rapids, Michigan


I love Grand Rapids, Michigan it’s a city that’s booming with so many options for weddings. From venues with views of the city to venues that feel a million miles away from the city, Grand Rapids has something for everyone. Experience GR has a ton of information on local events and activities for you and your guests to enjoy while they are in town. This list is the second half of the venues I am exploring, all the venues below are on the larger side holding 300+ guests.

The High Five is a new venue in Downtown Grand Rapids, its open concept loft space gives you plenty of space for your wedding. The big selling point of their brick wall venue vs other venues is that they don’t have pillars in the middle of the room, so possibilities are endless. The venue holds up to 300 guests and there is wheelchair access.

The University Club of Grand Rapids is a banquet hall on the 10th floor of a private club. The University Club offers panoramic city views, and offers several rooms to fit your wedding needs. The venue doesn’t have a room rental fee, or set up and tear down fees, however you do have to go through their catering services. The venue prefers plated meals, but does offer a buffet option, it is more expensive and has a time limit of one hour. The venue holds up to 300 guests and also includes free parking.

The Cheney Place is a warehouse venue with vintage furnishings. This is one venue in the area that books up QUICKLY, they book out two years in advance. There is a small fee to have your ceremony as well as your reception at the venue, they also have a vintage furniture rental company in the Cheney Place to rent from. There is free on site parking and the venue holds up to 350 guests.

The Bluff Banquet Center overlooks Indian Trails Golf Course, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Grand Rapids. The main room at The Bluff is over 4,500 square feet, and holds up to 350 guests. Catering is on site, with both plated and buffet options available.

Clearwater Place is a newer venue in the Grand Rapids area, but the building itself was built over a century ago. The venue was extensively renovated, earning the Governor’s Award for Historic Preservation but also has modern amenities including 8 bathrooms, WIFI and a state of the art AV system. Clearwater place has on site parking, a bridal suite, groom prep room and holds up to 400 guests.


Goei Center is a old furniture factory turned venue near downtown Grand Rapids. They have the option to book both ceremony and reception at their venue, they also have on site parking. The venue holds up to 400 guests, and is caterer friendly.

The BOB/20 Monroe Live is a mix of venues within the Gilmore Collection. L3VEL at The BOB has a capacity of 300 guests and 20 Monroe Live has a banquet seating capacity of 500 but can hold around 1,700 people. Catering is through the Gilmore Collection, they also have other spaces within The BOB for smaller events.

The Amway Grand Plaza has a few options of different rooms to create the perfect environment for your day. The Amway is also a hotel, so with booking your wedding with them you do receive a room block rate for your guests. Event spaces and ballrooms fit from 40 to 600 guests, with on site catering. Parking is not free for guests, all food including wedding cake must be done through the Amway.


Notos Old World Italian Dining is a family owned and operated Italian restaurant with multiple options for wedding spaces. With spaces that fit 60-700 guests and ceremony spaces that fit 70-140 guests, there are options to fit your needs. Catering is on site, with both plated and buffet options.

JW Marriott is another hotel on this list that also offers wedding event spaces. With 8 event spaces and a capacity up to 700, there is options to fit your wedding needs. Their Knot profile has a calculator to give you an idea of a the cost and their big selling point is their certified wedding planners to help you every step of the way.

Frederik Meijer Gardens gives the feel of being away from the city but also has large rooms to fit your guest list. The venue is a 158 acre space with gardens, greenhouses and sculpture garden. Rentals include parking, free admission for guests to selected areas, event coordination and in house catering with both plated and buffet options. The gardens event spaces can hold from 20 guests to 850 guests.
