Top Ten Small Wedding Venues in Grand Rapids, Michigan


Grand Rapids, Michigan is a beautiful city to get married in. From gorgeous downtown venues with views of the city to venues that feel a million miles away from the city, Grand Rapids has something for everyone. Experience GR has a ton of information on local events and activities for you and your guests to enjoy while they are in town. This list is only half of the venues I am exploring, all the venues below are on the smaller side being able to host 200 guests or less.


The Rickhouse at Long Road Distillery is an industrial style venue that can hold up to 120 guests. Long Road is Grand Rapids’ first distillery sourcing ingredients from the West Michigan area. From their Wedding Wire listing, “The word "rickhouse" refers to the name of a traditional whisky barrel storage facility, primarily found in Kentucky and Tennessee. The Rickhouse provides numerous views of the distillery and stills below, has two large restrooms dedicated to the event space, and has a standalone bar for drink service during events.” Catering and bartending is through the venue, they have a variety of options to choose from as well as craft cocktails.

The Loft at Luna is a 4,700 square foot upstairs space that can seat up to 175 guests. It’s right in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, so you and your guests will have easy access to local shops, dining and hotels. The venue has it’s own private entrance, so there won’t be confusion about entering through the restaurant. The beautiful brick walls are like many of the larger venues in the Grand Rapids area, but on a smaller all-inclusive scale. All weekend rentals include access from 10am to 12am the day of the rental. Catering through Luna is optional, but they do have a list of preferred caterers to choose from.

Gallery Divani is the smallest venue on this list, holding up to 80-100 guests. Despite the size, the space is a gorgeous historic building with brick walls and large windows. Catering and bartending is through the venue, they have a variety of options to choose from: hors d'oeuvres receptions, plated dinners or a buffet can be customized.

Lions + Rabbits is one of the most unique venues on this list - besides being a venue it’s also an art gallery and community retail space. The space has seating for up to 125 guests, and the rental fee includes event set up and tear down of tables & chairs, onsite day of assistance, onsite parking, and catering prep area. Above Creston Brewery is Golden Age Events. They are a newer venue by Creston Brewery with seating for up to 175 guests. Since the space is a part of Creston, the food and drinks come from the bar downstairs. The venue itself has tons of natural light and white walls and is pretty much a blank slate.


Bissel treehouse is another unique venue, right in John Ball Zoo. The venue sits on top of one of Grand Rapids highest points and holds up to 180 guests. As the name suggests, the venue is a upscale treehouse with plenty of windows and a wrap around deck for a ceremony or cocktail hour. Tables and chairs as well as a catering kitchen is included in the rental. Located in the Kentwood area is Venue3two, an elegant remodeled 1925 mansion. The unique thing about Venue2two is that all of their net profits are given to Equine Assisted Development and other local organizations that support disadvantaged children, families at risk, and rescued victims of human trafficking. The venue holds a maximum of 200 guests and has several spaces for a more intimate setting as well. Tear down and clean up is included with rental, catering and a bartender is not included.

The Ballroom at Mckay Tower is located right downtown across from the Amway Grand. This 10,900 square foot ballroom with high ceilings, large chandeliers and polished marble architecture holds up to 200 seated guests. Choose from one of their six caters. bartending and beverage service is in-house. Included with the rental is an on-site event coordinator and beverage manager, floor length table linens and napkins, mahogany Venice chairs and the large wood parquet dance floor.

The Revel Center is an intimate space downtown Grand Rapids that holds up to 200 guests. The light colored brick wall with dark ceilings and a dark wall with mirrored windows give this venue a unique look. Included with the rental are table and chairs, HD Projector and Screen and a photobooth for 4 hours. Setup and teardown of tables and chairs also covered by Revel Center Staff, however decoration setup and teardown is not included. Both catering and bartending have preferred vendors to choose from. CityFlatsHotel is the only hotel on this list, being able to stay at venue is a perk. The venue holds up to 150-200 guests depending on if you choose the event center space or the ballroom. Rental includes onsite catering, mahogany Chiavari chairs, silver chargers, china, glassware, flatware, and white linens. With two venue options in one location, you can create a full wedding that fits your budget and vision.

The Lit is a historic venue located in downtown Grand Rapids. The name comes from the history of the Ladies Literary Club and they are very much about keeping the venue to its historic roots. The venue holds up to 200 guest seated, and includes: main hall with beautiful stage, lobby complete with bar, bridal suite, catering prep space and house sound/lights. Rentals are for 10 hours, catering is not included but there is a list of add ons to create a custom package.
